Hi, I’m Lori Hammelman, Certified Professional Coder and graduate of the Medical Coding and Billing program at Kishwaukee College. I bring to BSS my experience not only as a medical billing specialist, but also my strong communication skills I polished as a columnist, staff writer and reporter for a local newspaper in Ogle County, IL. After nearly 15 years as a stay-at-home mom, I reentered the workforce first as a teacher’s aide at a local school district.

My dream of working in healthcare administration had me working at the newspaper during the day while attending college in the evening, and eventually obtaining my CPC. I have over 4 years of experience working in the mental health office including billing and the full revenue cycle. I am active in my local AAPC chapter as an Education Officer, where I am responsible for obtaining speakers to present at our monthly meetings. I enjoy reading, spending time at the gym and spending time with my adult children, family and friends. I am looking forward to working with the BSS team!
